While many schools were forced to quickly adjust to online teaching during the pandemic and are still trying to navigate this method of instruction, online learning is not unchartered territory for us, and we continue to provide the same exceptional educational services as we did in the past.

Although Taft is an online school, this doesn’t mean our program is easy. We pride ourselves on providing rigorous curriculum, challenging our students in order to best prepare them for success in their life after law school. One of the many advantages of our programs is that they can be completed 100% online, and students have two learning modalities to choose from, so they can select the format that best fits their lifestyle.

Two Learning Modalities which will Qualify Graduates
for the California Bar Examination

The faculty at Taft Law School recognize that adult students can learn in various ways. In this regard, two completely different learning methods are available to students in their pursuit of legal knowledge.

The Directed Study modality is preferred by students who can’t attend a traditional classroom but benefit from regular and substantive interaction with faculty and classmates. Directed Study students start courses on fixed dates, submit weekly assignments for faculty evaluation and participate in online discussions. In most courses, class participation can constitute 20% of a course grade.

The Independent Study modality is preferred by students who, for business or personal reasons, cannot commit to a fixed weekly study schedule. Independent Study students are graded based on written examinations.

Under either modality, students study the same material and take the same midterm and final examinations. Both are equally rigorous and require a significant commitment of time.
